McDonough Co. Humane Society kicks off Brix Challenge

MCDONOUGH COUNTY, Ill. (NEWS3) — The Humane Society of McDonough County has kicked off its annual Brix Challenge throughout the month of October.

This is the sixth year for the fundraiser that helps provide for animals in need.

Community member Chris Brix challenges the community to make donations and in return, Brix gives $1,000.

The Brix Challenge received just under $12,000 last year. More than $57,000 has been raised over the past five years.

The money helps to promote adoption and assist with the ongoing care and well-being of animals at the McDonough County Animal Shelter.

Money raised will also help reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs, and provide support through the Pet Food Pantry for pet owners who struggle to keep pets at home.

The challenge runs through October 31.
