Deputies arrest two people after foot chase, finding drugs

MCDONOUGH COUNTY (NEWS3) — Two people were arrested after a traffic stop turned into a foot chase early Friday morning.

McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout said deputies stopped a vehicle on Walton Way and Jackson Street in Macomb.

Petitgout said the driver, Jacob A. Roberts, 22, of Bryant, Ill., took off running on foot and once deputies caught him, they found drugs on him.

Authorities then searched the vehicle where the passenger, Sarah A. Norris, 33, of Peoria, Ill. was, and found more drugs in her purse, according to Petitgout.

Roberts and Norris were taken into custody.

Roberts is charged with possession of Methamphetamine under 5 grams, Fleeing and Eluding, Obstruction of Justice, Driving while License Suspended, and three Fulton County warrants. Norris is charged with possession of Methamphetamine under 5 grams.
