Leathernecks extinguish Flames with two goals from Amy Andrews

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Western Illinois women’s soccer took home a winner Thursday afternoon after beating the University of Illinois Chicago Flames 2-1.

WIU sophomore Amy Andrews scored the first goal of the game at the 37th minute with a pass from senior Emily Bollman.

The Flames (2-2-1) would tie the game at 1 after Keri Birkenhead (72′) buried a shot into the back of the net.

Andrews (84′) would be back again shortly after to score the games final tally, the first time a Leatherneck has scored two goals in a game since 2017.

The Leathernecks (2-1-1) next game will be at home against the Northern Illinois Huskies on Sunday at 1 p.m.
