After meeting in a WIU class, two WIU graduates have created three new scholarships for students.
Tom and Alice Berntson have named the WIU Foundation as a beneficiary of a planned gift.
This gift is valued at 20 percent of their estate, allowing the establishment of three scholarships: the Tom J. Berntson Scholarship for Chemistry Endowment, the Alice Robison Berntson Scholarship for Psychology Endowment and the Tom J. and Alice R. Berntson Scholarship for Foreign Languages Endowment.
Each scholarship is important to a part of their life.
Tom taught chemistry, Alice got a degree in Psychology from WIU, and they would never have met if they hadn’t been in the same language class.
