MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – On Tuesday, April 4, Western Illinois University hosted West Fest, a concert featuring Jessie Murph and Armani White on campus.

Doors opened at 6 p.m. and the concert was supposed to start at 7 p.m. when a tornado warning forced everyone to evacuate into the basement and pushed the start of the event back. However, fans did not seem discouraged and as soon as the concert was ready to resume, those in attendance started screaming.

Several students at the show mentioned they hoped that events like this will continue in the future. This was the first West Fest since 2019 when WIU had Morgan Evans and Dylan Scott perform. Since then the yearly event had been canceled due to the pandemic.

West Fest was organized by the university union board and the bureau of cultural affairs and ticket fees were waived last week in light of the fatal shooting that injured WIU students near campus.
