MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – The Corbin Olsen upper parking lot has gone through a lot of changes since Fall 2022.
After discussions between WIU Parking Services, the Western Illinois Student Government Association and Inter-Hall Council, the upper lot has been changed back to student parking, except for the first twenty spaces, which will remain faculty and staff parking.
“We noticed that the lot was pretty much empty, that the staff wasn’t using it the way we thought they would,” Lance Johnston, WIU Parking Services officer, said. “We did counts over the next two to three months and made the decision to open it back up to students.”
In the fall semester parking services changed the upper Corbin Olson parking lot from student parking to fully staff parking in an attempt to accommodate the loss of staff parking during construction of the new center for performing arts.
Updates on parking are sent to students via email.
