MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) — Super Bowl Weekend provided comic book movie fans with loads of content to watch for.

Superhero movies were back with a vengeance as “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantamania” hit theaters during Valentine’s Day week.

The Paul Rudd and Jonathan Majors led film is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, introducing the next big bad of the MCU with Kang the Conqueror. Early reviews by critics are hinting at a mediocre release, so it will be interesting to see how fans react to the highly CGI-used film. It will be the first release in Marvel’s “Phase 5” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can see the film at the Rialto Cinema in Macomb.

Onto DC Studios, The Flash released its own trailer during Super Bowl Sunday. The trailer shows the return of familiar faces, with both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck reprising their roles as Batman. New characters will be introduced as well with Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Even with the recent controversies of Ezra Miller (The Flash) DC Studios is still releasing the film in the Summer of this year.

More from DC, Lady Gaga has released a photo on Twitter of a screenshot from the upcoming Joker Sequel starring her and Joaquin Phoenix. The photo shows both of the actors on screen showing their makeup design in the film. The sequel to the Joker will be eyed for an October 2024 release.
