MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – During the spring semester at Western Illinois University, the Donald S. Spencer Recreation Center at 1001 W. University Drive offers a variety of fitness classes for anyone interested in joining.

From sunrise pilates, to kickboxing, to evening yoga, throughout each day there is a different fitness class available.

Ashley, a sophomore student and cheerleader at Western, said taking these fitness classes has helped her maintain good grades.

“I definitely feel working out has a lot of benefits, when I am taking classes, it helps me focus more and you just feel better about yourself,” Ashley said.

TRX instructor Josée Primeau said that it is important for students to stay active during the school semester because it helps balance good mental health.

“It contributes to a positive physical health,” Primeau said.

There are no requirements to join a class. Students can bring their student ID to sign up and participate.
