MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) — “Avatar: The Way of Water” is on the rise in the box office, even though the film was released in December.

The James Cameron-led film has soared to new heights in the month of January, catapulting the film to the fourth-highest grossing movie of all time, having earned more than $2 billion since its release. Cameron originally said the film would not make any money if it did not break the $2 billion mark, and just a month after its release it has made that profit and more.

Cameron and the rest of the Avatar crew have already shot all of the footage they need for a third Avatar film, with a fourth Avatar movie on the way after that. Disney took an astronomical risk with the Avatar release because the first Avatar film was released more than 10 years ago, but it looks to have paid off for the sequel, the highest grossing film of all time.

Paramount Plus has released its newest project to fans of the Teen Wolf series. Teen Wolf: The Movie was released on Jan. 26 to very mixed reviews. After multiple film adaptations after the hit 1985 film Teen Wolf, and even a series on television titled Teen Wolf, Paramount decided to reboot the series and create a massive time jump to bring in a fresh story perspective.

Netflix is planning to update their password sharing policy in March. This will affect almost 100 million Netflix users and will take away the privilege of users to share passwords with friends or family, who possibly did not want a Netflix account of their own. The news was shared with their letter to shareholders in January. Netflix stated, “Today’s widespread account sharing undermines our long-term ability to invest in and improve Netflix, as well as build our business.”

It is unclear how this policy will affect Netflix’s earnings as well as the quality of television and entertainment we see from the streaming platform in the future, but it is something to watch out for as next month rolls around.
