MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – As Western Illinois University continues to explore opportunities to offer a variety of products on campus, the University is introducing a vending pilot program on the campus to distribute haircare products for underrepresented students.

The vending machine, currently located inside the west entrance of the Multicultural Center, offers bonnets, durags, hair oils, styling gel, and edge control. Students can pay with cash or a credit card.

“The awareness of, and visible support for, different needs is important. We are certain the students appreciate and value the added options and convenience this brings,” said WIU Acting Director of the Multicultural Center and Interim Director of Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Carl Ervin.

If the machine is utilized and the pilot program is considered successful, WIU will install an additional machine on campus.
