MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3)- This week in movies, comic book movies are back with the release of ‘Black Adam’ in theaters, and the DC Extended Universe brings back ‘Superman’ to the big screen for the first time in over five years.

‘Black Adam’ has soared to the top of the box office, earning over 65 million dollars on opening weekend, overtaking ‘Halloween Ends’ and ‘Smile during the Halloween season’.  ‘Black Adam’ stars Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson in his first-ever DC superhero role.

The movie comes after the historic Warner Brothers news, as they appoint James Gunn and Peter Safran to lead DC studios. This is similar to what Marvel studios does with Kevin Feige.

Although there is no confirmed release date for when DC superhero fans will get a new Superman movie, hopes are high after the announcement from Cavill.
