Writing Center Write Night

By Kyle Wittenrich

MACOMB, IL – This week, the Western Illinois University (WIU) Writing Center is hosting a Write Night. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 19, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the Malpass Library. Attendees will receive attention from the university writing consultants on any writing-related projects or questions.

For years, colleges across the country have offered writing centers on campuses. Writing centers are there to serve the students and help fulfill their academic needs. It is no secret that college students are assigned many writing-related assignments during their academic journey. These centers bring advanced-writing students and/or faculty to give students tips and advice on their writing skills. And best of all, there is no additional charge to use this service.

The WIU Writing Center has been operating on the Macomb campus for years and has served many students during their college careers. The center staffs undergraduate and graduate writing consultants who work one-on-one with students in need of writing assistance. To be best prepared for an appointment, it is recommended that students bring any materials and information regarding the assignment, a clear goal for the session, and time management since it takes roughly thirty minutes to produce two double-spaced pages.

This upcoming Wednesday, Write Night will take place in the University Writing Center. Writing consultants will be in attendance and on standby for any writing help students need. Most importantly, there will be pizza for all the attendees!

The Writing Center is openSunday through Friday. Appointments are available for in-person, online, and e-tutoring options. If you are interested in signing up for an appointment at http://www.wiu.edu/uwc/faculty-resources.php
