MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois Fighting Leathernecks women soccer had a rough weekend in North Dakota losing to North Dakota and North Dakota State after beating Kansas City at home.
It was a very close game as the Leathernecks fell short 1-to-0 against North Dakota.
Isabel Navas Rodriguez had a tremendous game having seven saves and only allowing one goal. Rodriguez kept the Leathernecks alive throughout the entire game. The Leathernecks just ran out of time.
Emmy Elilington led the team in shots with three. Ellington scored her first goal of the season against the Kansas City Roos.
Leathernecks took 11 fouls and two corner kicks in this match up.
Things did not get any better when they played the North Dakota State Bisons. During the first half it was as close as it can get with the scoreboard showing scoreless for both teams.
The second half the Bisons started their big plays scoring four goals and winning this matchup 4-to-0.
Leatherneck’s top player Amy Anderws led the team with four shots.
Navas Rodriguez made seven saves despite allowing four goals.
The Leathernecks look to respond at home as South Daktoa on and South Dakota State comes to town. South Dakota will be played Friday at 3 p.m. and South Dakota State will be played Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at John Makenzie Alumni Field.
