MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) –WIU Veteran’s Center Director Ronald Pettigrew has been a part of the military for 40 years.
However, Pettigrew originally had different aspirations.
“I was planning on being an agricultural missionary overseas,” Pettigrew said. “I had the paperwork for [an] Air Force scholarship. So I got down on my knees and I really prayed right then and there.”
Pettigrew’s decision to join the likes of his family members and become a part of the U.S. military has allowed him to travel to various countries across the world. He has visited 49 states and met people of different backgrounds.
The one aspect of Pettigrew that is insurmountable is his faith; as it helped guide him throughout his life.
