MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) — Western Illinois University’s Women’s Center hosted Take Back the Night, an annual rally to bring awareness to sexual violence and domestic abuse, at 4 p.m., Oct. 21.
The rally began with a march from Sherman Hall on campus to Chandler Park, 120 E. Calhoun Street. Then there was a rally dedicated to survivors that shared their stories in hope to encourage others to seek help from similar situations. The Counseling Center was present to offer any support needed to those attending.
The event was part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Fundraisers were held recently to provide help to a local agency in support of survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse.
