Marijuana dispensary to open in Macomb

MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – A new marijuana dispensary will soon open in Macomb.

Windy City Cannabis will be opening for business in the building where Shooters and Diamond Dave’s bar had operated. Windy City is expected to bring 25 full-time and part-time jobs.

“What we expect to see from Windy City Cannabis is probably a substantial amount of sales tax revenue for the city,” Kim Pierce, Executive Director of the Macomb Area Economic Development Corp. “Along with that is the investment they made in the property, which is considerable to dress that up for curb appeal and have people want to go in there.”

Windy City Cannabis currently operates five other dispensaries across Illinois. Stores in Justice, Posen, Homewood and Worth sell medical and recreational marijuana. Windy City’s fifth dispensary in Chicago sells only recreational marijuana. The company is also in the process of opening two more stores in Highwood and Carpentersville.

The Macomb dispensary is expected to open in mid-to-late April.
