ELECTION 2020 | WIU students weigh in on pending results, officials say ‘Remain patient’

It has been hours since the last polls closed around the country, and the presidential election is too close to call according to the Associated Press and CNN. Western Illinois University students weighed in on thoughts on the pending results.

“I’m very nervous for the upcoming election results,” Karyssa Endecott, junior WIU student, said. “There is a lot on the line for me as an individual and for millions of Americans.”

The official count will come down to a handful of states to decide a winner.

“I urge everyone to remain patient,” Kathy Boockvar, Pennsylvania secretary of state, said in a press conference at 9:40 a.m., Nov. 4, 2020.

There are a large amount of main-in ballots to be counted and according to the Associated Press, it is too close to call in several states.

Outstanding states, according to the Associated Press, include:

Georgia
Michigan
Nevada
North Carolina
Pennsylvania
