MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) —  Casa Latina at Western Illinois University’s Multicultural Center celebrated those that have passed on Friday, Oct. 30.

The event was held for Dia De Los Muertos and was split into two separate groups to keep the capacity of participants at 25 students per event. Each table was socially distanced and offerings were displayed and accompanied by candles for participants to remember those that have died.

The event was filled with live music and singing, dancing and a catrinx prize to those that entered the contest. Casa Latina offered food, such as tamales to the public and goodie bags filled with candy, stickers, markers and hand sanitizer.

Organizers were disappointed about not having a full house but have hope that the next event will be better attended.
