Local bars, restaurants take extra precautions after positive COVID-19 cases

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) – Local bars and restaurants have increased COVID-19 safety measures with the help of contact tracing in McDonough County.

The McDonough County Health Department reported public exposures to COVID-19 at the Forum, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick’s on the Square, and the Bushnell Dairy Queen over Western Illinois University’s move-in weekend Aug. 22 to Aug. 27. The RITZ and Hometown Café both announced positive cases amongst employees in early September.

According to The RITZ and Hometown Café, the employees who tested positive and those exposed to them have been quarantining at home. While Chick’s on the Square and Dairy Queen are closed to in-person dining, the other businesses are open with limited capacity and hours.

Each business said it is working with the MCHD and following CDC procedures to keep employees and customers safe.
