(NEWS3) — Two local county health departments are reporting new coronavirus cases Friday.
McDonough and Schuyler County health departments said there are four new residents combined in both counties with the virus.
McDonough County’s two new cases includes:
- 1 female in her 40s
- 1 female in her 80s
Schuyler County’s two new cases includes:
- 1 female in her 30s
- 1 male in his 40s
Officials said McDonough County currently is reporting 48 cases, 531 negative and 47 pending. Four cases have recovered. Staff said Schuyler County now has a total of 5 positive cases, 71 negative and unknown pending. One resident has recovered.
This comes one day after three new cases were reported in McDonough County and one new case in Schuyler County. Health officials reported McDonough County’s second death related to coronavirus Tuesday. Western Illinois University also announced Tuesday a student living on campus was confirmed with the virus and has since been relocated. McDonough County authorities have reported four outbreaks at residential facilities within the county so far.
County health staff said protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have been implemented and they are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the residents in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission.
“Recovered is defined by CDC as resolution of fever without fever-reducing medications for 3
days (72 hours), improvement of respiratory symptoms, and at least 7 days have passed since symptoms first appeared,” officials said.
