MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — The interim title is now removed for the top firefighter at one local fire department.
Macomb Mayor Mike Inman appointed Rick Driskell, 49, the new fire chief of the Macomb Fire Department. A swearing-in ceremony was held for Driskell Tuesday morning at the fire station.
“The chief has done a great job in filling in the interim capacity since the beginning of the year,” Inman said. “We couldn’t be happier with his performance and we look forward to however many more years of service we can get out of you in this position.”
Driskell served as interim fire chief since January after former Macomb Fire Chief J.R. Hyde retired and moved into the private sector.
Driskell was originally the deputy fire chief before Hyde left. He joined the Macomb Fire Department in 1996.
