MCDONOUGH CO., Ill. (NEWS3) — McDonough County is now reporting a sixth and seventh case of coronavirus.
McDonough County Health Department said the sixth case is a man in his 70s and the seventh case is a woman in her 20s who tested positive. Officials did not say if the residents are recovering at home or in the hospital.
“Public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the resident in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission,” health department staff said.
McDonough County’s fifth case was reported Friday of a man in his 50s. The county reported its fourth case Wednesday of a man in his 30s. The county’s third confirmed COVID-19 case was announced April 13 of a woman in her 60s and a second case of a woman in her 20s. The county’s first case was reported April 10 of a man in his 40s.
McDonough District Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Edwin Card gave an update to the Macomb City Council last week, explaining where the response of the virus stands locally.
Card said the hospital originally had 48 beds available but recently increased the amount to 60. There are a total of 19 ICU beds and the facility has 12 ventilators at this point. MDH has requested 11 additional ventilators from the state.
The last update McDonough County officials released about coronavirus testing shows 107 negative cases and 12 pending coronavirus tests. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 41,777 total coronavirus cases Saturday and 1,874 deaths. The state saw 2,119 new cases and 80 additional deaths Saturday.

MDH has launched a drive-thru screening station. For service at the station, patients should be at least 18 years or older and must pre-register. Officials said patients must call the MDH nurse triage hotline or their primary care provider before showing up. The phone number to the nurse hotline is 309-836-1715. All testing requires a referral by a physician or nurse practitioner. The hospital asks for no more than two people per vehicle. The station is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week.
