19-year-old man arrested after allegedly shooting at people

GALESBURG, Ill. (NEWS3) — A 19-year-old Galesburg man was arrested after allegedly shooting at people in public over the weekend.

Galesburg Police said they received reports of someone firing shots at two locations Saturday just before 10:30 p.m. around the 1200 block of E. South Street.

Police said they were able to locate the alleged shooter, Nolan Miner, 19, once they arrived on scene. Authorities said Miner reached for his waistband, but was then taken into custody.

Miner had a Kel-Tec nine millimeter handgun. Two shell casings were found in the area. Police believe the incident was drug related. Witnesses told officers they heard three to four shots.

Miner was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm with no FOID, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. He’s in the Knox County Jail awaiting bond.

Police said no one was injured.
