MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Events around the state are canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and so it’s no surprise a summer-time favorite for area car lovers is now added to that list.
Macomb Downtown Development Director Kristin Terry said Macomb’s Park N’ Cruise scheduled for May 1 in Chandler Park is canceled due to coronavirus.
“Even if the “Stay at Home” order is lifted on April 30, the committee and I don’t see how we can have a large gathering the day after the order has been lifted,” Terry said.
This cancellation comes after McDonough County Health Department reported three cases within the county.
There are still four other dates on the calendar for the Park ‘N Cruise event. Terry said the city will decide when the time gets closer if the dates should be cancelled.
During each event, a band is also scheduled to play from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The 2020 schedule for Downtown Macomb Park ‘N Cruise is as follows:
Friday, May 1 – CANCELED
Friday, June 5 – Band: Eternity Road
Friday, July 3 – Band: CrossOver
Saturday, Aug. 1 – Band: The King Graffiti Band
Saturday, Sept. 19 – Band: American Pie
