COLCHESTER, Ill. (NEWS3) — Throughout the next few weeks, a local police department will be hitting the streets to celebrate kids’ birthdays in a special way.
Colchester Police posted on their Facebook page the department wants to make a child’s birthday memorable despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we know we’re not to have get-togethers or parties,” police said.
To make up for that, Colchester Police said they are willing to show up outside of a child’s home and drive by with a lights show, an air-horn toot or something fun to celebrate and make the best of their special day.
Parents of children in Colchester with an upcoming birthday can send a private message to the Colchester Police Department’s Facebook page with the child’s name, age and address to set up the surprise.
