WIU BOT to discuss student fees at meeting Monday

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Days after the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees abruptly canceled a special meeting, it has now been rescheduled.

The latest announcement was made Thursday to hold a special meeting Monday at 11 a.m. via teleconference on WIU’s YouTube channel.

This comes just three days after the board said it would meet this past Monday to consider temporarily suspending certain authority granted to the board and hand those powers over to Interim President Martin Abraham.

Officials said the meeting set for Monday is for trustees to consider measures pertaining to presidential authority to make decisions regarding refunding or crediting mandatory and special Spring 2020 student fees and the FY21 student health insurance fee recommendation.

Trustees will meet electronically and the meeting is not physically open to the public due to the stay-at-home order in effect.

Anyone with public comments of no more than 500 words can submit them through email by Sunday at 5 p.m. to WIU University General Counsel at EL-Duvall@wiu.edu.
