HANCOCK CO., Ill. (NEWS3) — A man was airlifted to a hospital after an ATV accident Wednesday night in Hancock County.
Illinois State Police responded to the crash southwest of Plymouth on County Road 530 North, about a half-mile east of County Road 2900 East, just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers said Ross Smith, 36, of Bowen, lost control of his 2007 Honda ATV on a gravel road and drove into a ditch.
Authorities said Smith’s ATV struck the ditch embankment and rolled over, ejecting him. He was able to continue driving the ATV to a nearby residence for help in Plymouth where EMS responded.
He was airlifted to OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Smith suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the cause of the crash is due to driving too fast for conditions. The investigation is ongoing.
