MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Ten days after Western Illinois University Board of Trustees announced its March meeting was cancelled, the board released it will now hold a special meeting.
The announcement was made Friday, the day it was scheduled to have its quarterly meeting, but the meeting was canceled last week due to the coronavirus pandemic.
WIU officials said the meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Monday via teleconference on the WIU YouTube channel.
Trustees will consider temporarily suspending BOT policies, regulations, rules or any other authority granted to the board and hand those powers over to Interim President Martin Abraham, according to WIU officials. This suspension would last until Illinois’ state of emergency is lifted or until the next board of trustees meeting.
Officials said the meeting will be closed to the public due to the stay-at-home order issued by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
