Hy-Vee suspends returns policy

MACOMB, Ill.  (NEWS3) — Shoppers will no longer be able to return any items purchased at any Hy-Vee locations across the country due to coronavirus concerns.

The supermarket chain announced the policy change includes returns, refunds and rain checks. Customers still have the option to exchange any items if they find that they are defective or not fresh. Non-perishable products will not be accepted.

Chief Executive Officer of Hy-Vee, Randy Edeker, said the decision was made with the well-being of employees and customers in mind.

“The health and well-being of our customers and employees remain our highest priority,” Edeker said in a press release. “Because we can’t trace where our products go after they leave our store, we can no longer accept certain products for return.”

Hy-Vee has not said when the temporary ban will be lifted.
