Galesburg closes public playgrouds due to COVID-19

GALESBURG, IL (NEWS3) — While the state of Illinois is under a current stay-at-home order issued by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation board has closed all public playgrounds.

A move made in response to the rapid spread of COVID-19, all City of Galesburg playgrounds, including the playground at Lombard Middle School, are closed until further notice.

In addition, the Connie Nott Dog Park will also be closed to the public for the time being.

City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation encourages local residents to continue enjoying other spaces in the parks, such as walking trails, but urges them to remember to follow social distancing guidelines.

Last week the City of Galesburg issued an emergency declaration to allow the city to receive federal and state funds for relief.

There are no positive COVID-19 cases in Knox County.
