MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — The decision to cancel in-person classes at Western Illinois University in the coming weeks forced a group to cancel an annual big event at WIU.
Officials said RockyTHON 2020, also known as Dance Marathon, is canceled for this year. The event was scheduled for March 28.
This move comes after WIU decided to extend its spring break and transition into an alternative format until April 3.
“We are overwhelmed by the incredible efforts of our community to raise funds and awareness for the patients and families at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital so far this year,” WIU RockyTHON President Julianna Kessler said.
The RockyTHON group will continue to raise money for its efforts until March 29 at 12 a.m. Click here if you would like to donate to the event.
“We continue to advocate for childhood health and will place our miracle families and miracle makers at the forefront of all our efforts for the rest of the year,” Kessler said.
The announcement is amid concerns and precautions being taken over the coronavirus pandemic.
