‘First Wednesday’ returns to WIU for spring semester

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — The Western Illinois Department of Art and Design program, ‘First Wednesday,’ has returned for another semester.

This monthly-event allows people in the campus and Macomb community to try their hand at arts and crafts.

The series of art activities is open to all ages and is held in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

The department offers a wide variety of activities each month.

Monmouth High School Art Teacher Kurt Fowler came to February’s program with his students.

“It’s a good time for the kids to get out of Monmouth and experience a college art facility,” Monmouth High School art teacher Kurt Fowler said. “Get to talk with professors, get to talk with college students, get to try some different things, things that I may not have in the classroom. We get to experiment and have fun.”

The next “First Wednesday” will be March 4 from 7 – 9 p.m.
