MCDONOUGH CO., Ill. (NEWS3) — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from noon Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday.
The McDonough County Emergency Service and Disaster Agency (ESDA) posted on Facebook, the future weather system moving into the area within the next 24 hours is a “complex winter storm.”
The NWS said the storm will first bring snow to the area starting around 11 a.m. Friday. The snow could cause roads in our area to become slick. There is also the possibility of blowing snow and cold wind chills.
During the early evening hours Friday, the NWS said the snow should change over to sleet and freezing rain starting sometime after 6 p.m. Overnight, the sleet will change over into rain.
Early preliminary forecast show three inches of snow with the possibility of .08 inch of ice on top.
The NWS said there is the possibility of additional flurries on Saturday, but the biggest concern will be the temperature, as wind chills are expected to reach -15.
