Winter weather leads to train crash in Macomb

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Emergency crews responded to a train vs. car crash Sunday evening in Macomb.

The crash happened on West Jackson Street at the training crossing.

Macomb Police Deputy Chief Dave Burnham said a car slid onto the tracks and got struck by a slow-moving freight train.

Burnham said the driver was taken to McDonough District Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the slick road conditions is to blame for the crash.

According to the Amtrak website, the Carl Sandburg from Quincy to Macomb ending in Chicago has been delayed for more than three hours due to the incident.
