Son dies after being shot by mother in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, Ill. (NEWS3) — Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide in Little York.

Sheriff Martin Edwards said deputies responded to a residence around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night where they found a man with a gunshot wound.

Edwards said Jesse Porter, 43, of Little York, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Edwards said further after investigation, police determined Porter was shot and killed by his mother, 71-year-old Sondra Porter.

Police said they both shared a home. Deputies initially responded to the area for a domestic disturbance reported by Sondra.

Detectives interviewed the mother after the shooting and she was released.

Edwards said there is no threat to the public following the incident.

Warren County State’s Attorney Office has not yet determined if any charges will be issued.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
