Macomb man charged with DUI and distracted driving after crash

WARREN COUNTY, Ill. (NEWS3) — Illinois State Police said a Macomb man was seriously injured after a crash Saturday afternoon.

Police said 24-year-old Auston Lee Wright was driving north on US 67 near 105th Ave. just before 2:00 p.m. when he lost control and struck a guardrail after speeding and using a cell phone.

Police said Wright ran off the roadway and crashed into a ditch of the center median.

Wright was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Wright was charged with aggravated DUI, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to
avoid an accident, improper lane usage and operation of vehicle while using electronic
communication device.

Police said Wright was wearing a seatbelt.
