Car crashes into Macomb business

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Macomb Police released more information after a car crashed into a building late Thursday afternoon.

Deputy Chief Dave Burnham said it happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of N. Campbell and E. Calhoun St.

Police said a 17-year-old driver from Macomb lost control of his vehicle turning left onto E. Calhoun St. The driver crashed into the corner of Snap Fitness. Water could be seen gushing from the building.

Burnham said the driver was sent to the hospital and was released.

Police issued three citations for improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and no proof of insurance.

Burnham said Snap Fitness is closed indefinitely.
