Macomb and Amtrak develop new website to update travelers

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — The City of Macomb is partnering with Amtrak to develop a website to better inform travelers of their trip.

According to the city administrator’s office, the pilot project gives updates on the status of trains that go through Macomb. This website is similar to the status monitors in Union Station in Chicago.

“Amtrak was good to work with on this project, and we are glad we could be the first community served by Amtrak to introduce this,” said City Administrator Scott Coker.

This is not the first time the city and Amtrak have worked together. The releases said Amtrak used local contractors in 2017 to make ADA improvements to the depot.

“We are proud to be an Amtrak community and gladly continue to work with Amtrak on these initiatives to improve the service to Amtrak customers,” said Mayor Mike Inman.

The service is available on the city’s website or can be found by clicking here.
