One dead following fire in Macomb

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Macomb Fire Department responded to a single structure fire early Saturday morning.

According to a press release, the fire happened around 4:30 a.m. at a residence on the 100 block of North Campbell Street.

Officials said one victim was found on the second floor of the residence.

Authorities said the victim was given medical treatment but later died on scene.

The investigation is ongoing. The victim’s identity is not being released until notification of family.

Officials are expected to release more information about the incident on Monday.
