UPDATE 12:20 P.M. FRIDAY, NOV. 1, 2019
GALESBURG, Ill. (NEWS3) — Galesburg Police said they were able to make contact with the man inside the residence just before 12 p.m. on Friday.
The man came out of the home located on the 1700 block of East Main St. and turned himself into police without any further incident.
Police are continuing to investigate. No charges have been filed at this time.
UPDATE 11:50 A.M. FRIDAY, NOV. 1, 2019
GALESBURG, Ill. (NEWS3) — Galesburg Police are currently in a standoff with an armed man in the 1700 block of East Main St.
Police responded to a call for a domestic disturbance with a weapon round 2:15 a.m. Friday morning.
Officers said the man is armed with a handgun and is making threats to harm himself, his family and officers if they were to enter the residence.
Neighbors have been notified and were told they could evacuate.
Galesburg Police along with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department has set up a perimeter around the home. Police said they continue to communicate with the subject.
Officers said there is no indication of danger to the public.
