Leathernecks’ winning streak reaches three

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NEWS3) — The Western Illinois men’s soccer team earned their third straight victory on Saturday with a 2-0 win against the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons.

The Leathernecks (3-11-0, 2-1-0 Summit League) recorded 11 shots on goal to the Mastadons’ three in their second straight shutout victory.

Sophomore midfielder Enric Ferrer (51’) and junior forward Ryan DeBois (77’) scored for WIU.

Fort Wayne dropped to 3-11 overall and 0-3-0 in the Summit League. Sophomore goalkeeper Tor Erik Larsen made nine saves.

The Leathernecks return home Saturday to play the Eastern Illinois University Panthers at 1 p.m.
