Man arrested after walking into wrong home

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Macomb Police said a man was arrested after he walked into an unknown residence on Friday night.

Police said they were called around 11 p.m. to a house in the 1000 block of East Calhoun Street after a woman spotted a man standing in her kitchen and seemed intoxicated.

The woman told police she heard the door open and thought it was her husband.

She then called her husband’s name before going outside and to find a man standing in the kitchen. The woman believed the man was intoxicated.

Police said the man left the residence when the woman saw him. Police later spotted the man in the 1200 block of East Carroll Street that matched the description the caller gave.

Carl O’Connor, 22, of Wataga, was arrested for criminal trespass to a residence after the woman wanted to press charges.

O’Connor was released on a $100 cash-only bond.
