Police arrest Bushnell man for burglary to business

BUSHNELL, Ill. (NEWS3) — McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout and Bushnell Police Department Chief Joe Fosdyck said a man was arrested after being caught breaking into a business in Bushnell.

Police said Amir Kawash, 24, of Bushnell was spotted breaking into the Auto Wash Car Wash at 198 Ludwig Street in Bushnell  around 9 p.m on Monday.

Petitgout said Kawash was arrested inside the office of the car wash and found with burglary tools.

Both departments then searched Kawash’s residence after obtaining a search warrant and recovered more items of evidence leading to more charges being filed this week.

Kawash was charged with burglary, criminal trespass to a business, and possession of burglary tools.

Petitgout said this is the second time in the past 10 days the Auto Wash Car Wash has been burglarized.

Kawash bond was set at $7,500 cash-only.

More charges are expected as the investigation continues.
