SOUIX FALLS, SD. (NEWS3) –The Western Illinois Leatherneck volleyball team took home their first conference play win on Sunday after facing the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
It took the Leathernecks (4-11, 1-1) five sets to bring home a winner from South Dakota after losing the first two sets to the Jackrabbits (4-8, 1-1).
WIU’s Mariah Mitchell and Mackenzie Steckler both lead the team with seven total blocks.
The Leatherneck’s victory was led by Mitchell who finished the game with 14 kills, hitting at .343 along with her seven blocks.
WIU volleyball is back on the road this weekend to take on North Dakota on Friday and and North Dakota State on Sunday.
