Macomb Police: Altercation at Walmart sends one to hospital

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — The suspect involved in the altercation at the Macomb Walmart was identified as Duane Gosa, 43, of Macomb.

According to the Macomb Police Department, a Walmart employee and Gosa were involved in an altercation in the restroom. It then escalated after they both exited the restroom and Gosa confronted the employee a second time.

Police said a video showed Gosa taking the employee to the ground and threatening him with a knife. Gosa can be seen sitting on the employee’s chest in the video.

The employee was transported to the McDonough District Hospital after sustaining two cuts to his left arm and chest along with multiple bruises.

Gosa was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault.

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Macomb Police said an altercation at the Macomb Walmart sent one employee to the hospital.

Police said they received a call around 8 a.m. Thursday for someone with a knife inside the store.

The altercation was a fight between a customer and an employee.

Deputy Chief Dave Burnham said the employee had to be transported to the hospital for their injuries.

Burnham said one person was taken into custody.

Macomb Police Department is still investigating the incident.
