WIU volleyball falls in first conference match

FORT WAYNE, In. (NEWS3) — The Western Illinois volleyball team lost their first Summit League conference match Tuesday night against Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Leathernecks fell to the Mastadons in three sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-20).

Tuesday night’s loss would bring the women’s record to 0-8.

Mariah Mitchell lead Western Illinois University with nine kills and four blocks.

Throughout the game, Western Illinois only hit seven percent while Purdue Fort Wayne had a hitting percentage of 27.

Purdue Fort Wayne is now 7-8 on the season and 1-0 in conference.

Next game for the Leathernecks will be Sunday in Brookings, South Dakota against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
