Kinder Mondays returning to WIU campus

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) – Mondays at Western Illinois University are about to get better. The WIU Counseling Center has started a campus wide initiative to bring kindness to students and faculty on Mondays.

Director of the counseling center Amy Buwick and counselor Ana Diaz started Kinder Mondays (KM) back in 2016 to add a positive start to the school and work week.

“The idea came from just being rally crabby on a Monday and saying why are they so hard I wish they were kinder,” Buwick said.  “One of my colleagues, Anna Diaz, was like I like that idea we can make Monday’s kinder.”

Buwick says the university plans on expanding Kinder Monday’s because an act of kindness goes a long way.

“The purpose of Kinder Monday’s is to build community within the campus because kindness has a contagious effect.”

You can experience Kinder Monday’s each week put on by different departments here at WIU, at a different location on campus each Monday.
