Police find missing man in attic following fake report

MCDONOUGH COUNTY (NEWS3) — The missing Good Hope, Ill. man and his wife were arrested for filing a false police report after he was found “safe and sound” in his attic.

According to McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout, detectives from the sheriff’s office and Macomb Police Department began working on the case and found that Molly M. Rusher, 38, lied about her husband, James L. Wade, 55, whereabouts.

Earlier this week, Rusher reported her husband was missing from their Good Hope home and said he could possibly be in the Macomb area.

Petitgout said police found Wade hiding in his attic during a search warrant of the residence Friday morning. They were both taken into custody.

Rusher and Wade were charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Justice. Petitgout said the investigation will continue.
