Crews begin road work on multiple streets in Macomb

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Workers will be out repairing several streets in Macomb starting Thursday.

Macomb City Administrator Scott Coker said about 34 blocks will have some work done.

Crews will be patching and filling parts of Center Street, Clay Street, Lafayette Street, Verzel Drive, Indian Trail, Madison Street, Calhoun Street, and Home Street.

“The purpose of the street preservation project is to treat the mid-quality streets and prevent them from degrading further in condition,” Coker said.

Parts of each street will be closed off for about an hour during repairs.

“It is expected this treatment will last 10 to 12 years,” Coker said.

The project costs $250,000 using the infrastructure sales tax.

Road work is expected to take a week long.
