Western Illinois University student dies after being found unresponsive Saturday

PEORIA, Illinois (NEWS3) – A Western Illinois University sophomore has died after being found unresponsive on Saturday.
The Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety received a call at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Saturday regarding a student in need of medical attention.
When first responders arrived, 20-year-old Drew Raymond of Little York, Illinois was found unresponsive in his dorm room.
According to Peoria County coroner Jamie Harwood, Raymond was first taken to McDonough District Hospital and was later airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for a higher level of care.
Raymond was pronounced dead at about 12:36 p.m. in Peoria on Sunday.
“We extend our thoughts and sympathies to Drew’s family and friends,” Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas said in a statement.
Harwood said an autopsy was inconclusive and toxicology results are pending. No foul play is suspected.
Raymond was a computer science undergraduate. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and worked for UTech at Western Illinois University.
